KL HOCKEY CLUB JUARA LAGI

Sunday, 23 October 2011 13:01
It lived up to the billing of an epic final as KL Hockey Club cameback from the dead to defeat Tenaga Nasional Berhad 3-2 in a titanic clash at the National Hockey Stadium.
It looked as if KLHC were dead and buried after being down 0-2 in the opening ten minutes but it was the last ten minutes turned the tide for the defending champions.
TNB went into attacking mode from the first whistle and were awarded a penalty corner in the 5th minute which was hotly disputed by the KLHC defenders led by Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim.
And Faisal Saari sent in a thunderous flick into the roof of the net giving KLHC keeper Roslan Jamaluddin no chance whatsoever.
Barely had the cheers in the stands died down that TNB punished the KLHC defence yet again. Amir Farid Ahmad Fuzi eliminated two defenders before cracking in a shot from the top of the semi circle that caught Roslan on the wrong foot.
The TNB strikeforce were on fire as the likes of Faial, Amir and Firhan Ashaari tormented the KLHC defence with Razie losing his composure. And Amir came close twice but was let down by poor finishing.
KLHC slowly crept back into the game and were awarded a penalty corner in the 20th minute but Razie sent his attempt wide.
It was an end to end stuff after that but try as they did KLHC could not find a way past the TNB defence where Mohd Madzli ikmar was outstanding.
KLHC left it late to get back into the match as Mohd Ameerullah scored in the 59th minute. And three minutes later Chua Boon Huat scored from a well worked penalty corner.
Razie Rahim then scored the winner in stoppage time to break the TNB hearts.

Razak Cup: KL champions again

By AFTAR SINGH

MALACCA: Nabil Fiqri Mohd Noor scored the winning goal in sudden- death extra time to help Kuala Lumpur beat Pahang 1-0 in the Division One final and retain the Razak Cup title at the Bukit Serendit Stadium here yesterday.
KL pocketed RM10,000 for winning their 19th title while Pahang, who did not have the services of any national players, earned RM7,000 as the 49th edition of the country’s premier hockey tournament came to an end.
However, Pahang deserved much of the plaudits despite the loss as they defied the odds with a sensational run to the final.
KL, powered by five national players, failed to play true to form. They also wasted six penalty corners in the match despite having two top penalty corner specialists in Mohd Amin Rahim and Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim.

KL coach I. Vickneswaran praised Pahang for “playing really well”.
“We were lucky to score in extra-time. Pahang gave us a real tough fight,” said Vickneswaran.
Pahang coach Izwan Suhardi too was not disheartened by the defeat, saying “we lost to a more experienced team who also had five national players”.
“I never expected my team, who only had 10 days of training, to reach the final. It’s a very good achievement for our state,” said Izwan.
“We only had 15 players for the final as midfielder Mohd Soffian (Mohamed) is nursing a knee injury while two other juniors – Mohd Hafiz Nawi and Mohd Rifhan Azhar – had returned home due to family matters.

SSBP JUARAI PIALA MILO 2011

UniKL tersungkur pada penentuan penalti stroke
MUHAMMAD Shahril Saabah muncul wira buat Sekolah Sukan Bandar Penawar-TNB (SSBP-TNB) apabila menjelmakan gol kemenangan menerusi penentuan penalti stroke 3-2 pada perlawanan akhir Liga Hoki Remaja menentang Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) untuk merampas gelaran juara keseluruhan dan menjulang Piala Milo di Stadium Hoki Tun Razak, malam tadi.

Dalam perlawanan yang terpaksa diheret kepada penentuan penalti setelah terikat 2-2 sehingga berakhir masa tambahan, Shahril menewaskan penjaga gol UniKL, Shahrul Azaddin Auskarzie untuk menggamatkan suasana stadium, sekali gus menafikan hasrat UniKL mempertahankan kejuaraan.

Pada babak pertama, UniKL terlebih dulu membuka jaringan pada minit kelapan menerusi sudut penalti Muhammad Taufik Abd Hamid tetapi SSBP-TNB bingkas menyamakan kedudukan menerusi gol padang Mohd Fitri Saari pada minit ke-21.

Tujuh minit berselang, UniKL sekali lagi berada di depan menerusi sudut penalti kapten, Mohd Zulhairi Hashim untuk jaringan peribadi ke-18 musim ini.

Keselesaan itu bagaimanapun tidak bertahan apabila SSBP-TNB sekali lagi bangkit menerusi gol padang Shahrusahadan Basri pada minit ke-38 hingga permainan masa sebenar tamat tetapi gagal menghasilkan sebarang gol pada masa tambahan.

SSBP-TNB membawa pulang Piala Milo dan wang tunai RM20,000 manakala UniKL membawa pulang RM10,000.

Terdahulu, pada perlawanan penentuan tempat ketiga dan keempat yang tertunda hampir 30 minit kerana hujan, Sekolah Sukan Bukit Jalil Junior (SSBJ Jr) menewaskan Sekolah Sukan Bandar Penawar Junior (SSBP Jr) 4-1.

Malaysia Juara (.....) Piala Sultan Azlan
